Chapin Old Timey Christmas

Dutch Fork Choral Society will be singing at the Chapin Old Timey Christmas celebration from 6:30-6:50pm on December 14th. The overall event runs from 5-8pm.

“This night of holiday cheer includes the tree lighting at 7:30 pm, visits from Santa & Mrs. Claus, and special readings from some of our favorite people in Chapin. You can also visit with our fun volunteers at the children’s activities, sing along with our carolers, and listen to live music while shopping with our hand-picked Christmas vendors. We hope to see you all here!”

Singing Opportunity: Do you love to sing but don’t have the time for a weekly commitment? Have you always wanted to join a local choral group but just haven’t taken the next step? The time is now.

This is a same day one rehearsal, one performance opportunity to sing with members of the Dutch Fork Choral Society. We’ll rehearse from 4:45 to 6:15pm in the sanctuary at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church (101 E Boundary St, Chapin), then head over to the event which is adjacent to the Tipsy Toad (103 Beaufort St, Chapin). We’ll be singing from 6:30-6:50pm. Here’s some additional background:

Concert “dress” is informal, Christmas or holiday garb, heavy on reds and greens.

If you want to join us, plan to arrive at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church not later than 4:45 for our only rehearsal. The music is intended to be highly familiar to set us up for success in an a capella setting with very limited rehearsal. We will rehearse everything aurally – that way we can be unencumbered from music/lyric sheets so everyone can stay together.

There will be a few “cheat sheets” to give to section leads with the set list and select prompts such as “unison verse 1, harmony verse 2” etc. Starting pitches will be provided for each song.
